2012 is almost here! I still can't believe that we are almost in 2012. This past year has flown by!

Since 2012 is right around the corner, it is a perfect time to get a new Calendar! Currently, my 2012 calendars are 25% off (not including bound, write-on, calendars). This year, I have several calendar options to pick from. I have two different flower calendars and brought back my shell calendar along with the Wine, Tea and Coffee Calendar! So many choices that I don't even know which one is my favorite! :)

Went off to NC again

When I went to North Carolina in May, it was to see my grandmother who has colon cancer. She had just been diagnosed in April of this year and the cancer had already spread. About a week and a half ago, the day before Father's Day, she lost her battle with Cancer.   The day she passed, I took my kids and flew back to North Carolina for the funeral.

We spent a week and a half in NC and it was a bitter sweet visit. Although my grandmothers passing was not a total surprise due to the cancer, it was still sad. But, on the other hand, we had a wonderful time with the family we got to see. My kids had so much fun with their cousins who they don't get to see all that often. I had a great time catching up with my own cousins and siblings.   My kids got to play in the lake every single day....they loved it!  Ahhh, that brought back so many memories!

One thing I love about my grandmothers house was her flowers. She has some beautiful hydrangeas in her garden.  I added a new print to my shop of one of those hydrangeas.....this photograph is in honor of her and her memory!

Earlier this month, I added 12x18inch posters to my shop! They are printed on thick paper...like card stock. I also had them printed on pearl poster paper which gives this amazing touch to the photographs and makes the image pop off the paper!

The Tiny Pearls Of Light poster was even featured in Etsy Finds e-mail this past Saturday!! Yay!!

I just love these posters!! They are wonderful and affordable ways to add larger photographs to a home, college dorm roof or office!

Yellowstone

In mid May, my husband and I took the kids on a driving trip from here in Denver up to Jackson Hole Wyoming! It was a fun and beautiful trip! We only spent 2 days up in the North Western Wyoming area while the other 2 days were spent driving. I already can't wait to go spend more time at Yellowstone...it was just beautiful!

Needless to say, there was still a lot of snow at the South Entrance of Yellowstone -- which is not too far from Jackson Hole. Actually, the day we went to Yellowstone was the first day the south entrance was opened for the summer season! As we drove in, I could see why. Some of the snow along the side of the road was upwards of 15 feet deep! But, as we got closer to Old Faithful and the Hot Springs area, the snow became less and less deep.

We spent a good part of our day at Old Faithful and walking around all the hot springs there. They were so beautiful and just amazing to see!

The kids loved watching Old Faithful...and so did my husband and I! We waited for about an hour for it to go off and it was totally worth the wait!!

This is one of the smaller hot springs. It was pretty cool to see them bubble and boil. There were also a few smaller geysers mixed in amongst the hot springs that erupted as we were walking by.

The hot springs had amazing colors with the different minerals within them and the water. Its something that its best seen in person! Some of the pools were this amazing blue color...like a teal or aqua color. Just stunning!! Then the run of from the hot spring could range from a dark green to yellow or orange to white. There were so many beautiful colors in and around the hot springs!

We also got to see a lot of different wild life. We saw a ton of Buffalo, a Bald Eagle (that had caught a fish) and a few Coyote!

We had such a great time! We didn't get to see anywhere near as much of the park as we had wanted to see, but then again, we could only be there for one day! Yellowstone is a really beautiful place....my photographs don't do it justice!!

North Carolina

In early May, I went back to Charlotte, North Carolina where a lot of my family live. I did not grow up in North Carolina, but I used to spend a lot of my summers at my Grandparent's house on a lake outside the city.

That place holds so many amazing memories for me! I love going back there and seeing my family (my mom moved back there from VA many years ago). My dream is to take my kids there and have them spend their summers there too. We have yet to do this, but I would love to go for at least a week or two one summer! I don't know what keeps holding us back?!

While I didn't get many photographs from my trip to NC this time, I did take a few of a beautiful sunset over the lake. I used my new lens - the Lensbaby for it! The Lensbaby is such a fun lens....I might have to do a post on just that! :)

If you can tell in this photograph, the lensbaby is more of an artistic lens that gives the most amazing blur/bokah and only has a small area of the photograph in focus. For this photo, the middle tree line is in focus while the the sun is in a bit of a blur!

I love these photographs! This is the lake I spent so much of my summers at. I think spent the entire day swimming! I was so much fun! I am so jealous that my mom and grandma get to look out on this every day! Just being there to visit family brings back so many amazing memories!

Now, if I could only move there! :) But, I still love it here in Colorado!!

Its has been a really really long time since I have updated my blog, but I am going to get back into the swing of things....again! :)

I have plans to make a few postings about some trips I have taken over the past 2 weeks. Trip one was to Charlotte NC to see some family and trip two was to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, The Grand Tetons National Park and Yellowstone. My husband and I took the kids up there last week for a few days and had a wonderful time!

Etsy Treasuries

Now that Etsy has a new treasury system (as of several months ago) anyone can make a treasury at any time and they never expire. So, a few times I have tried my hand at making a treasury. This makes me realize how fun and hard it is to make one!

Last night, I made one called "Fall Into Red". Its two of my favorite things, fall and the color red!! :)

But, speaking of fall, am so ready for fall! Only a few days left of summer and then its my favorite season!! The leaves are changing in the Mountains here and my husband and I are thinking of taking hte kids up to see them. I would really love to get some Aspen tree photographs too. I also can't wait for pumpkins and Halloween and anything else that just screams fall!! :)

Pancakes!!!

One of the meals my kids love the most is pancakes...especially when they are for dinner!! Tonight, I wanted to find good homemade recipe and on Foodnetwork.com, I came across a PB&J pancake recipe. Being that my kids love peanut butter and jelly, I had a feeling that these pancakes would be a huge hit.

They were super easy to make and wow, they are really good! They have a great peanut butter flavor.

I wasn't able to make the fruit syrup since we were just about out of frozen blueberries, so I just used the maple syrup. They were good even with that.

Here is the recipe from Foodnetwork.com

PB&J Pancakes:

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk, plus extra if needed to thin
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, melted
2 tablespoons oil
4 tablespoons butter

Blackberry Syrup, recipe follows

Directions

Preheat a griddle. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Slowly mix in egg, milk, peanut butter and oil until combined. Add a little extra milk if batter feels too thick. Let mixture sit 5 minutes. Melt 1 tablespoon butter on griddle and move around to coat entire griddle. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter per pancake on griddle to form 5-inch pancakes. The batter spreads as it cooks. Fill griddle without crowding pancakes. Flip when air pockets start to pop on the top and a quick peak on the underside reveals a golden pancake. Repeat with remaining butter and batter. Serve pancakes with Blackberry Syrup.

Blackberry Syrup:

2 pints fresh blackberries
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 lemon, zested

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Lower heat to a simmer and cook until liquid is reduced to a syrupy consistency, about 10 minutes. Use a wooden spoon to break up blackberries as they cook. Strain syrup to remove seeds and serve warm.

Yield: 1 cup
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Air Show!!

My husband and my kids love airplanes (my husband is a pilot, so my kids get it from him! lol). Over the weekend we heard that there was an air show going on in Broomfield, CO, so my husband and I took the kids over to it. We all had a great time - esp. my kids. They loved watching the planes do the stunts and and hearing the loud FA-18 and F-16. My 3yo son kept telling me he wanted to go fly the FA-18! Too cute! My husband and I want to take the kids to go see the Blue Angles or the Thunderbirds since neither were at this smaller show. I think our kids (and my husband) would love them!!

I took all kinds of photos, and am still not 100% sure if I will or if I can add them to my shop (if I have the rights to sell photos of the planes at the show). But, I thought I would post some in my blog! :)

I have been working on my 2011 Calendars for my shop. This year, I am going about them differently. They are 5x7 or 3.5x5 loose leaf calendars. So far, have a Wine themed one, a Floral themed one and a Food themed one. Plus, I have one that is "Design your own" where you can pick all 12 photos you would like for the calendar! I am thinking about also doing a sea shell themed Calendar and a landscape themed one too. I might even look into doing a more traditional wall calendar where there is space for each date to write in stuff.

This is just an example of the various photo you can use to design your own calendar, but customers can also purchase this exact calendar if they happen to like it! :)

She Sells Sea Shells

As much as I love living here in Colorado, I really miss living by the ocean. In college, I lived in Norfolk, VA and in Virgina Beach. I loved living so close to the beach and rivers. I miss the sound of the crashing waves and the feel of the sand between my toes! My ideal place to live would be somewhere that has mountains like we have here on Colorado (I love these mountains) and the ocean!

Over the weekend, I was out shopping and found these beautiful shells. I wish I could say I found them on the beach somewhere, but I found them in a store in a land locked state. LOL

I took a few photos and want to try for a few more. I love adding to my sea shell photo collection! :)

A Not So Lazy Saturday!

Barbed

My husband and I took the kids out this morning on a nice bike ride around the neighborhood. We took them past a farm that run along side our neighborhood and it has a barbed wire fence running along its property line. I took the opportunity to see if I could get any artistic photographs out of the barbed wire fence! It was a great opportunity to take photos of something other than flowers!

Lately, I have been wanting to get more photographs of anything other than flowers. As much as I LOVE to photograph flowers, I really want to try my hand at something new such as landscape photography, abstract photography and urban photography. Soon, hope to head into Downtown Denver to photograph these vintage neon signs that run along Colfax. I have heard this is a great Urban area to photograph! I can't wait to see what I can get. Hopefully something good! :) lol

I got a few other barbed wire photos to add to my shop and I will do that over the next few days.

In The Heat Of The Summer

Pastel Pink

Here in Colorado, we are in the really hot part of summer (as I hear much of the country is), so I don't get out as much as I would like to photograph flowers. But yesterday, the kids and I, along with my sister in law and her son headed out to the Botanic Gardens during the morning. It was pretty busy since it was Sunday and there were several beautiful weddings going on! I did manage though to get a few flower photographs before it got too hot for us to be out.

I am still amazed that there are so many beautiful flowers in the heat of the summer. I am also very glad to see so many that love this heat so I can photograph them!

I am also starting to get back into textures. I had taken a break from adding textures to my photographs, but began to miss them! lol As you can see, some of these prints in this posting have the texture added to them.

Sweet Cherries

Aside from flower, I have been wanting to take advantage of all the fresh fruit. My family and I love cherries. They do not last long around here. I think these Rainier cherries are so pretty w/ all the different colors on them. Needless to say, they didn't last much longer after this photograph!

Has It Really Been 6 Months?

Romantic Pink Flower

Wow, I have really fallen off the ball on this one! But, I have told myself that I will get back on top it and stay on top of it! :)

So, what have I been up to for the past 6 months? I have been pretty busy here at home with my kids and family. My daughter turned 5 and lost her first tooth and my son turned 3! They are on summer vacation right now that ends in a few short weeks! My son will be starting preschool and my daughter will be in Kindergarten.....where is time going??

Photography wise, I have had the opportunity to photograph flowers around town and I have tried to photograph other non-flower items such as fruit or my husbands guitar. LOL I have also come out with some new products like postcards (both 4x6 and 5x5 metallic), new magnets (2x2) and I am also working on 2011 Calendars. Two are listed in the shop and I have ideas for 3 more Calendar themes! I am also running a Buy One, Get One Free sale through Monday on all reg. priced prints up to 12x18....ACEOs are also BOGO FREE!

For the month of July, my work has been hanging in a local Coffee Pub called Rooster and Moon. Its in Downtown Denver and has been a wonderful experience putting my work in a local shop.

All in all, life has been good! :)

I Can't Wait To Travel

My husband and I have these grand dreams of traveling the world when our kids get a bit older (they are 4.5 and almost 3). First off, I really want to see the countries and cities that our families came from when they came to America. My family has been in America for a looooong time. We think my dads family came here from England in the early 1600's and my moms family came from Germany in either the the 1720's or 1740's. Since then, we have also had family come from Scotland, Ireland and my mom thinks France too. As for my husbands family, his Great Grandparents on his fathers side came from Italy and his Mothers family came from Germany sometime in the late 1800's I believe.

I would love to see all of those countries and hopefully see the cities that our families came from. I can't wait to explore our roots!!

Until then, we want to travel the US and Canada. There is so much of these countries to see and explore and I can't wait to see it all (or a lot of it!!). I would love to see the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Canadian Rockies and much more!

I'll be sure to bring my camera along on our adventures!! :)

Super Bowl Yummies!

My husband and I love homemade soup. One of our favorite soups is French Onion Soup, but never tried to make it even though we always heard it was really easy to made. Several months ago, we tried our hand at a recipe we saw on America's Test Kitchen. Oh boy, was it GOOD!!! Its a really rich soup and is one of those soups that tastes better the next day!! We now like to make it a day ahead so it can sit overnight in the fridge and become even better!!!

I thought I would share this wonderful French Onion Soup recipe with you all!!!

French Onion Soup
Serves 6

3 tablespoons unsalted butter , cut into 3 pieces

6 large yellow onions (about 4 pounds), halved and cut pole to pole into 1/4-inch-thick slices (see illustration below)

Table salt

2 cups water , plus extra for deglazing

1/2 cup dry sherry

4 cups low-sodium chicken broth (see note)

2 cups beef broth (see note)

6 sprigs fresh thyme , tied with kitchen twine

1 bay leaf

Ground black pepper

Cheese Croutons

1 small baguette , cut into 1/2-inch slices

8 ounces shredded Gruyère cheese (about 2 1/2 cups) **We like Mozzarella cheese!**

1. For the soup: Adjust oven rack to lower-middle position and heat oven to 400 degrees. Generously spray inside of heavy-bottomed large (at least 7-quart) Dutch oven with nonstick cooking spray. Place butter in pot and add onions and 1 teaspoon salt. Cook, covered, 1 hour (onions will be moist and slightly reduced in volume). Remove pot from oven and stir onions, scraping bottom and sides of pot. Return pot to oven with lid slightly ajar and continue to cook until onions are very soft and golden brown, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours longer, stirring onions and scraping bottom and sides of pot after 1 hour.

2. Carefully remove pot from oven and place over medium-high heat. Using oven mitts to handle pot, cook onions, stirring frequently and scraping bottom and sides of pot, until liquid evaporates and onions brown, 15 to 20 minutes, reducing heat to medium if onions are browning too quickly. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until pot bottom is coated with dark crust, 6 to 8 minutes, adjusting heat as necessary. (Scrape any fond that collects on spoon back into onions.) Stir in 1/4 cup water, scraping pot bottom to loosen crust, and cook until water evaporates and pot bottom has formed another dark crust, 6 to 8 minutes. Repeat process of deglazing 2 or 3 more times, until onions are very dark brown. Stir in sherry and cook, stirring frequently, until sherry evaporates, about 5 minutes.

3. Stir in broths, 2 cups water, thyme, bay leaf, and 1/2 teaspoon salt, scraping up any final bits of browned crust on bottom and sides of pot. Increase heat to high and bring to simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes. Remove and discard herbs, then season with salt and pepper.

4. For the croutons: While soup simmers, arrange baguette slices in single layer on baking sheet and bake in 400-degree oven until bread is dry, crisp, and golden at edges, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

5. To serve: Adjust oven rack 6 inches from broiler element and heat broiler. Set individual broiler-safe crocks on baking sheet and fill each with about 1 3/4 cups soup. Top each bowl with 1 or 2 baguette slices (do not overlap slices) and sprinkle evenly with Gruyère. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly around edges, 3 to 5 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

The Other Loves Of My Life!

Snow Clouds

There are many loves of my life besides photography. I am also a stay at home mom to two wonderful little kids, so that is a huge (and important) part of my life! But, I also love to cook and I love to do anything outdoors - for the most part! HA!

The family and I can't wait for spring to roll around so we can go camping and hiking again! We took our kids on their first camping trip this past summer to a place South West of Denver in the Colorado Mountains. We all had a blast. My kids loved playing in all the dirt and mud all day long. LOL They loved the camp fire and of course, they loved the Smores!! They have been asking all winter long if we can go camping again.

In the photograph above, one of my favorite campsites sits just to the right of the open field of that amazing mountain range. Its called Moraine Park (I could be wrong, but I think this open field is also called Moraine Park). The camp ground has the view of all of these mountains and of one of Colorado's many 14ers called Longs Peak (its to the left of this photograph - can't see it here). This campground is one of the places I hope to take this kids this summer!! If you go to this open field in the fall, there are tons and tons of Elk out for the mating season. They are all along this open field and along the road that took this photograph on. The Elk are HUGE and a pretty big attraction that time of year.

The view in this photograph is one of my favorite places in Colorado! We go up there a few times a year for camping and hiking and we always drive along this road that takes us past this spot. I can never get enough of it! Usually you can see a lot more mountains where the clouds are at, but this time, the snow clouds were starting to roll in!

I plan to add more of our hiking and camping adventures to the blog as the summer rolls around. I love the share all the beauty and fun that Colorado has to offer!! Maybe I will throw in some cooking posts too!! :)

1 Year Later

Its hard to believe that today is my 1 year Etsy-versary! What an amazing year it has been. I have made some great friends, founds some amazing shops, found a wonderful group of female photographers (fPOE) to are an amazing support system. I can't thank everyone enough for all they have done for me this year!

Now we are onto year two! I can't wait to see what this next year will be like!

I hope to get myself into the local market more. I will be hanging my work at a Coffee Shop/Pub in downtown Denver this July. I might also look into doing an art gallery again and possibly hanging my photography in a friends bakery (mmmm, cupcakes!!).

My 1yr Etsy-versary is only a week away. Its hard to believe that I started this amazing journey a year ago! I have had the most wonderful support of friends and family and my customers have been the BEST! I still have to pinch myself that there are people who love my photos as much as I and want it in their homes! This last year has been a dream come true! I truly love this job and everything that goes with it! I hope this next year I keep on growing in my business and photography. I can't wait to see what this next year will bring!

So to celebrate my first year on Etsy and to thank everyone, I am doing a Giveaway!! The giveaway is for any 8x8 or 8x10 of your choice from my shop. The giveaway will be open until Monday night (Jan 25th). I will then pick winner via a random number generator and the winner will be announced Tuesday morning (Jan 26th). All you have to do is go to my shop at ameliakayphotograph.etsy.com and pick out which print you would want to win. Poppies of Fall

Its been pretty quiet around here for the last week huh?!?! But, I am still here! :)

I spent the weekend working on all kinds of new prints for my shop. I have been slowly adding them to my shop. I also added 10 new photo magnets as well. My shop is busting at its seams!

We have been spending the last week getting back into the swing of things. My daughter finally went back to school from winter break and started back to dance class. As much fun as it was for her to be in winter break, she is glad to be back in school with her friends. I think she was getting sick of being home with me all the time. LOL Why on earth would she feel like that?!?!!? LOL

I have also been looking into getting my photography into local shops and restaurants. I have contacted a few places around here, so hopefully something pans out!

The one above was a lot of fun to photograph. I love how the out of focus lights look like the steam of a nice hot cup of coffee....or tea!

I Love the Pioneer Woman!!

The Pioneer Woman has to be one of my fav. blogs. She has all these amazing recipes plus, she is a great photographer! Oh, and she is amazingly funny!

On the photography part of her blog, she has started to do assignments for her readers to partake in. You can post your images in her Flickr group and she will then post some of those pictures on her blog. A few months ago, she posted my Aspen Leaves in the Wind print on her blog for the assigment "Fall Bokah":

Her latest assignment is Black and White. So, I entered my Love is a Beautiful Word print. I woke up this morning to see it on her blog!!! Its down towards the bottm of todays entry.

I really love the photo bookmarks in my shop. So much so, I added 11 new ones today....yes ELEVEN!!! I added all kinds including the one shown above. I did more flower ones, one of a Ferris wheel, one of some wine corks and so on.

Espresso Bar

I love coffee. I really can't seem to get through the day w/o a cup....or two. I also love Espresso drinks. My two personal favs are White Chocolate Mocha's and Pumpkin Lattes!! Yummy!! I seriously make the pumpkin lattes all year long!! lol

Through my love of coffee, I have come up with a few photo ideas. I think I am going to start a coffee and tea series....sort of like my wine art series. The picture above is actually one I took back in Feb! I ran across it again the other day and fell in love with it again. This is when the creative juices started to flow! I hope to work on these other ideas soon!

On other notes. Can you believe 2009 is almost over?!? This year went by so fast. I know 2010 will be a big year for me and my family. My son is growing up faster than I could have ever imagined. He will be 3 in March. My daughter will be 5 in July and starts Kindergarten in the fall of 2010!! How is it possible I will soon have a Kindergartner?? She is 4 going on 14. LOL We also hope to take then to Disney World next year as well. They will have a blast!! :) I love seeing life through their eyes!

Falling To Pieces

I love this new print. I love how its a flower (my fav!) and a bit abstract too. I also used a texture on it (another one of my fav. things) to give it a unique and artistic look! I took this photo well over a year ago at my In Laws house here in Colorado. The sun was setting in the background and the wind started to blow and soon after, the dandelion started to fall apart. I just love how soft and delicate dandelions are!

As you know from my last post, I am doing a sale this weekend. 20% off just about everything and prints and ACEOs (mini prints) all get free shipping too!!

This week and through Nov 30th (cyber Monday), I am doing a Buy One Get One Free print sale!!!! I am very excited about it and I hope others will be too. :) Check out my shop for more details.

I have also added a few new prints as well. The one in this post is one of my new prints. That was taken this week at the Botanical Gardens. I got to meet up with a local photographer (who is amazing...here is her shop) who sells on Etsy. We got to get out of the house, Child free for a little bit! Very fun. Even though the Botanical Gardens was pretty bare, we got a few pictures. Most of mine are more abstract shots.

On a side note, I hope that everyone has a wonderful week and hope that those of you who are celebrating Thanksgiving here in the US have a wonderful day!! I plan to hit up my In-Laws house for a yummy meal! :)

ACEOs - Mini Prints

I have been asked several times if I offer ACEO's in my shop. They are basically mini prints and measure 2.5x3.5inches. They are like fine art trading cards! You can hang them on your wall or put them in a book or pretty much do anything with them that you want!

I have 9 different ones in my shop right now (one of which is the picture above). You will have to keep a look out if I add more! ;) haha

Aside from the ACEO's nothing too new has been going on. I have been busy trying to get ready for my Craft fair thats in about a week and a half. I might be doing a second one as well on Dec 5th at a School in Denver.

Line Of Corks

I really love wine....my husband - not so much! I guess that means more wine for me! haha

Back in Feb, my sister-in-law gave me this great idea to take some pictures of wine bottles. She wanted some for her kitchen. I really loved the idea and I loved working on the project. I came out with 6 wonderful wine art photographs that are now listed in my shop. The print above is another shot I took last week. I expanded on the idea and bought some wine corks. I had this idea in the back of my head for months! I am glad that I got to work on the idea and here it is....its come to life!!

I have one other cork print that I have worked on that I will add to my shop tomorrow. Plus, I have a few other ideas that I hope to work on this week.

Keep an eye out....but I'm sure I will update here anyway! :)

Passionate Pink Flower

A new addition to the Amelia Kay Photography Etsy shop! I saw this beautiful flower at the Botanic Gardens. Such a beautiful and bold shade of pink!

Today, I have also signed up for a Craft Fair. Its my very first craft fair and I am so excited. It will be held in Brighton, Colorado on the Sat. after Thanksgiving (Nov 28th). I can't wait to see what it will be like to be a seller at a craft fair. I will pass along more details for those of you who are locals and would like to come see me in person! Would love to have you come out!!

Some New Prints

I have added a few new images to my shop. This one below is one of the three new images. Its called Layers Mirrored Image. The reason its called that is because it matches the new print Layers. I love these flowers even though I am not sure what kind of flower it is!!

Another new print I have is from the county fair we went to a few months ago. I took a picture of a Moving Ferris Wheel just as the sun was going down. I love going to the county fair and the kids had such a blast going on the various rides!

Lastly, I have decided to try my hand at selling some print sets. I already have one print set listed of some black and white flowers, but this time, I added a set of 3 Wine Art prints. Oh, how I love wine!!

My next mission is try try and figure out how to add more than one image to this new blogger editor. Hum.... Maybe I will just stick to the old blogger editor even though this one looks nice too. lol :)

Coming Back To Blogger

After the last 6+ months on a different blog hosting site, I have decided to come back to blogspot. There are a few reasons, but I am excited to be back! :)

My shop on Etsy has been going well. I love selling over there and I am still so excited that there are people out there who are willing to invest their heard earned money on my photography. I am extremely thankful for each and every sale!!

I am working on making changes to my shop. I have a few ideas that I want to work on over the next few weeks. One was to offer more than 8x8's and 8x10's. So, I have starting offering larger prints!

I hope to get a larger blog following on here. I hope to offer a blog give away sometime in the next few months, so keep an eye out for that! :)

Also, this past week I was so thrilled to be on The Pioneer Womans site. If you don't know who she is, she is a beautiful and very funny woman with a popular blog. She has a cooking section, a photography section (!!!), and a home and garden section. I just love her blog! But, she features some fall bokeh (picks with a blurry background) on her site. You can find me here....towards the bottom! Its my Aspen Leaves In The Wind print!!

Ok, enough of that! :) I had thrown in a few of my newest prints that I have added to my shop. I took these last week at the Denver Botanic Gardens. I love that place!! Just love it! Its different every single time I go and its always so beautiful!

A New Blog To Go With A New Business

Just this past week, I have started up a Fine Art Photography business called Amelia Kay Photography. I am very excited about this new adventure in my life.

I have loved photography pretty much all my life. As a kid, I used to want to be a photographer for National Geographic. That dream didn't come true (well, not yet at least!), but starting up my own photography business is still realizing a dream.

Over this past year, I realized I am more of a fine art photographer rather than a portrait photographer. I found myself really loving taking pictures of flowers and then turning those pictures in to art. I love to use textures! Just love textures. I feel like they give a whole new depth and warmth to the pictures. I also love black and white photography and/or giving my pictures an antique look.

Currently I am selling on Etsy. Soon, there will be a web site to go along with that. I also hope to expand beyond the Internet (I am going into downtown Denver to check out an Art Gallery that contacted me about doing a show!!)
